Weekend update…

Weekend Update is the name of a show!

This weekend Mike is taking scooter class and I am doing nothing ;) I have cleaned, watched movies, slept in, did a little reading. He was in class Thursday night and most of the day today.

A former Miami colleague of Mike’s was in town for a conference, so he picked him up for dinner at Ray’s and a stop at — yes — Cupcake Royale before taking him to the airport for his redeye flight. A good time was had.

Last week I took several pics in order to update the blog, then never posted them. The first one is from Zak’s – A Burger Joint. It’s filled with old license plates, including some from Ohio and Indiana.

This is Mike and the puppies all watching the Oscars last week. I would like to point out that Tilly is having a problem — She barks at any dog on TV. Whether they are on House Hunters, dog food commercials or if it’s the Cotonelle Puppy… Ugh. It’s so annoying. Ruby will run to the windows to bark too, and then she’s like ‘wait, there’s nothing there!’

Bella, bella

Where else, other than Seattle, would you have a vintage umbrella store? I heard of it a couple weeks ago in my Seattle Ideal Bite, and it turns out it’s a block from our house. It’s called Bella Umbrella, how cute is that? They rent vintage umbrellas for special occasions, or you can buy one for a pretty penny.

It just so happens, it’s been raining and raining the last three days. Wetter than usual, because it usually just isn’t that wet.

I’m so behind on blogging~ Mike has definitely outblogged me. I even took a couple pictures this weekend so I’d have something to post about, and I never posted. Sorry.

I’ve been pasting up for two days, and working more for Amy B. I’ve also got a maternity leave to cover at the builders association for which I worked last spring. So it will be a comfortable place to go back to

So that’s it in a nutshell…

This is Matilda, waiting to be told to get on the couch. She does this on the couch and on the bed. She can actually get up here herself, although she does need a boost on the bed. Ha.

Today I went out. Shopping. I know, dangerous. I, for some reason, decided I needed to go to the Container Store, which is in Bellevue. It was fun. I didn’t find everything I wanted, so I ended up at Office Max later in the day. A trip to Target in the middle. Picking up odds and ends, and a few things to get my office area(s) in order. I’m feeling a little unorganized. I haven’t really done any real organizing since we’ve been here. Not any new systems, just sort of moved my old office systems into the new office. Anyway, boring.

What is far more exciting? Our dear friends Stephen and Lauren sold their house!!! It’s been about a week. I have to commend my friend and realtor Amy B – In the past two and a half weeks she has sold my sis-in-law’s house, helped them buy a great new house (yay, awesome!!), and sold Stephen and Lauren’s house!! And I have to commend S & L for working so hard with ALL the showings they’ve had. They will be building near our other friends Mark and Caitlin. It has been a crazy couple of weeks! Okay, so the people I know who have bought and sold in the past two months: Mark, Caitlin, Laura, Nate, Dan, Stephen, Lauren. Amazing!!! The market doesn’t seem to be dead for anyone I know… Congrats again to you all! I’ve enjoyed your house stories.

It’s a blog-off

Mike is trying to out-blog me. He now writes every day! And half of the times his entries are better!

So I’m trying to step it up.

What did I do today? Aside from going out to dinner as Mike described I also slept through The Price is Right, caught up on some Ideal Bite stuff, gave someone both of my phone numbers incorrectly which was kind of hilarious, finally changed my mailing address on my IRA which surprisingly still exists and watched a repeat of Oprah… That’s about it!

I’m working on Monday and Tuesday at paste-up. So I’m going to try to tie up some loose ends around here before then!

Work update…

Author: admin

Yes, I do work. A little. I know some of you are wondering how that whole “work thing” is going. I’ll give you an update.

I’m still freelancing through my creative placement agency. January and February have been slow, with only just under a week of placement, but I’m not troubled by this. The economy is rough, so I’m just happy my company still exists and they haven’t cut me loose. There is a future opportunity in the works with them for the spring — a potential coverage of a leave. I don’t like to discuss these things until they are final, but I’ll let you know if/when it gets scheduled. So, I’m looking forward to, possibly, a couple months of work!

I’m enjoying my real estate “reporting.” We’ve been busy this week monitoring the stimulus package, etc. You want to stay up to date on that kind of stuff so you can keep the updates, well, updated. So today and tomorrow I was and will be watching the news, trying to report on things and pass them on shortly after they happen. So, there’s that. There’s a lot of policy stuff going on that involves housing/real estate, etc. so there’s a lot to watch and read about!

I’m also doing “helping with a logo” here, “newsletter editing” there, and I have a website I’m working on for a new contact in Cincy. And frankly, it’s plenty. I pretty much always have something I can work on but don’t always have to be working.

Like today, I mostly monitored the Stimulus, as mentioned, did laundry, went to the grocery, and forgot to plug in the crockpot. That was pretty much my day ;) AND I did not sleep in today! That is my main goal this month, to rework my daily schedule. I am trying to make the dogs wait until a reasonable hour (SEVEN, not FIVE) to get up and eat/go out. Then I can stay up instead of going back to bed. (Because I’m not going to realistically get up at 5 or 6 everyday. It’s just not going to happen.)

If I get up with them at five, and attempt to go back to sleep, I end up laying there until 7:30 and crashing hard until 10 or so. It’s a horrible habit and makes me very unproductive. It also makes me feel icky. Bleh.

I’ll let you know if this continues to work. I’m 1 for 2 this week. :/ I mean, how tempting are those two puppies in the bed?
