New babies a-comin’!
Author: cortnyI’m pretty sure this is fair game now to say that I’m going to be a repeat AUNT! Laura is going to have her second in May, and we are all very excited. Congrats, Palmer fam!
AND I have a few extended family members who are also having babies, and that’s exciting too! I’m pretty sure all that everyone who needs to know who those folks are already know, and I won’t put any names on here.
Speaking of names, I love the baby name conversation. Maybe it comes from liking to write — naming a character is always the most fun part. We used to talk at work all the time about baby names, and what everyone liked. (Christa, is Susannah still on your list?? I know what was on Julie’s list…)
The downside of waiting 8 years (yes, and counting) to do the baby thing means you run the risk of your favorite names getting used. And I know I’ve talked to other people — Laura included — who had a name that a friend or relative used and then you just kinda don’t feel like using it anymore. That’s what happens when your friends and family have similar tastes and influences — that’s all.
Makes you want to ‘copywright’ your favorite ones, you know? Like say, for instance, I wrote down any old name like MARIN on my blog, and then I’d have it in writing in 2009 that I liked it. Or say for four or five years. Or, like, hypothetically speaking, maybe for the last three years my favorite boys name has been OLIVER, and say I decided just to write it down in a public place. You know, just for fun. And then if anyone used them I could still feel like they were our names instead of someone else’s.
Except for Laura — you’re not allowed to use them ;) ;). We don’t want to give Rosie two grandkids of the same name, right? Although, for some reason I feel like Oliver Palmer is not on the list — but I could be wrong!
Here’s hoping everyone has healthy, happy and easy pregnancies through the next few moths! Good luck, and we’re thinking of you!!!!!

Funny … and I do still like Susannah (but I can’t believe you remember that). Which means that if I ever have a child it will be a boy because I don’t have a great \S\ boy name.

I only remember really unimportant things. And I don’t know any S boys names for you (I mean, besides Stephen)… If I come across one I’ll let you know.

Don’t worry, Marin nor Oliver are on our list. Speaking of lists, we don’t have any names that are on both mine and Nate’s list, so this next child might be nameless for a long while… Hopefully knowing the gender might help jumpstart the conversation prior to baby’s arrival.

Uh oh! Time to break out the baby name book! I’m sure it will be easier once you find out what you’re having. I’m sure you guys will come up with something fitting!
