Back on Earth
Author: cortny
Ahh! We’re back. What am amazing week we just had at the Baron Baptiste Level One Teacher Training in Mexico at Maya Tulum.
I am not going to go into extreme detail here — it would be way too hard to explain the whole week, or to put into words the kind of transformation we had. But I’ll give you some practical specifics…
The resort was beautiful. Rustic, but beautiful. The weather was great while we were there, too — warm and sunny, and I think it only rained one morning. (Thankfully it happened to be the one morning we got to sleep in :))
We started early each day with breakfast, and then usually meditation and yoga for the whole morning. Followed by a group session and late lunch. Then back for “practice teaching” in small groups, another sharing session, snack, a big night-time yoga practice, a late dinner (or REALLY late dinner) and maybe another activity after that. Then sleep :)
The food was super heathy and super good! No, no coffee, no cheese, no bread… Lots of rice, veggies, soup, beans, a little bit of fish. One night we got “apple crispy,” YUM.
The only mistake I made was not bringing a HUGE aerosol can of OFF. I was eaten alive by mosquitos and am still recovering. The tiny travel bottle I brought was useless, and the organic stuff we bought at little hotel shop was so gross smelling I didn’t really use it much. I can still smell it in my brain, ew.
Anyway, mosquito bites aside, this experience was amazing. Like I said, I really can’t put it into words. Although it was a ton of work (an no, not really any beach time to speak of ;)) it was so rewarding. We worked on our yoga as well as our souls. And the people were just amazing, I have so many new friends to keep up with on Facebook now.
No, I have no present plans to become a yoga teacher. That’s not why I went. Mike would like to teach, and I just needed the challenge. I would say close to half of the people I met were not yoga teachers. Many of us were just there to grow a little.
We have some GREAT pictures, thanks to the new camera that doesn’t suck as much as the old one ;) (Uh, thanks, Tilly?)

I may share more about it in the future. Right now I’m just trying to function in the real world and keep true to the lessons I’ve learned — Being authentic, being present in the moment.
I did REALLY enjoy my celebratory margarita in the airport before departing Cancun… At Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville. Talk about authentic!
