Week One

Author: cortny

Week One has been awesome. Mike, Elliott and I have gotten into a groove — at least for now, until he changes. (Which he will do every day, of course.) We’ve both been sleeping and eating and getting out, all while enjoying every minute with our Mr. Baby.

He’s usually interested in eating about every two hours during the day, and at night we swaddle him up tight and he’ll go for about three or four hours — ah, sleep! He screams and cries very little, just in little bursts. He calms easily these days and goes between super alert and super zonked. You know, like a newborn.

Today he had his photos taken by a professional photographer. He could not have been cuter. She sees a lot of babies and insisted that he was super awesome. We had no choice but to politely agree. I’m not going to argue with a professional. I can’t wait to see his pictures, I think there will be a million, it’s going to be hard to pick! I guess we shouldn’t have had such a cute baby. Oops.

His Nana and Gampy come tomorrow! Elliott’s thrilled to meet his family over the next couple weeks. We weren’t prepared for him to come so early, but it has been a blessing in disguise to have this week to figure him (and us) out. Turns out so far we’re pretty calm. It will be fun to see what he’s like next week, and the week after that… We don’t expect any one phase to last too long, so we’re enjoying each minute as it comes.

Remembering Venice

Author: cortny

Watching CBS Sunday Morning on the Tivo this evening, and they played a story about Gondolas in Venice. About halfway through they visit a Gondola shop that we had the opportunity to visit when we were in Italy on our Rick Steves trip in 2007. This shop is not open to the public, it was rare to get a chance to see one of the only places where Gondolas are made. Amazing!

Husband victorious.

I partially credit my careful research isolating (mostly) the culprit. Mr. ADT smoke detector. But within five minutes of being home, he fixed it. Mike: 1.

So, I guess I should give our detectors a break… yet again the chirper was something else!

Hooray for husbands! And hooray for sleep.

Eight months since my last post… I’ve pulled the blog from the edge of extinction, gave it a make-over and breathed life into it again. Hello to my one or two remaining readers.

The last eight months can be summed easily: Work. BABY.

I’ve pretty much been working for one of my local clients since before the time of the last blog post, with a little time off here and there in between projects. I’ve also been busy incubating the future offspring — coming soon, November 2011. I’m sure my two readers know about my pregnancy, so I doubt this post is killing any drama.

I’m anxious to get the blog up and running again. Hopefully it’s like riding a bike — you don’t really forget how. I thought I might want to document my next three months, with a big change right around the corner.

So, hello again blog. I’ll finish dusting you off and fixing your broken links and getting your plug-ins all working again. You’re really kind of a mess, but I don’t think it’s showing.
