The Puyallip Fair

Today we went to the Puyallip fair, which I guess is our “state” fair as far as 4-H goes, although it’s not called the state fair. (There was a fair last month called the Evergreen State Fair. … It confuses me.)

Anyway, it really is a fantastic fair. HUGE fairgrounds with a lot of permanent fixtures, paved walkways, etc. There were all the usual fair things – rides, fried food (we enjoyed “krunchy pups,” aka corn dogs, slushies and an elephant ear.) There were lots of livestock stalls, the crafts and hobby displays, vegetable displays, the big tent with all the people selling cookware and steam mops, etc.

We went with our Canadian friend (and his Canadian friend, too) and they are used to a big stampede-rodeo-fair thing. So they had pretty high expectations of Puallip. We were all satisfied and had a great time!

Also, it was about NINETY here today. Not a cloud in the sky. We are actually contemplating squeezing in a trip to Mt. St. Helens tomorrow. Normally, we wouldn’t travel this much in one weekend, but we’re probably running out of clear days to go see the volcano.

Enjoy some pics from the fair! I did not color adjust these photos, THAT is the real sky.
